UG evacuated, classes cancelled after bomb threats

The University of Guyana was evacuated after threats were made online

Classes were cancelled and students and staff evacuated from the University of Guyana following threats on social media.

Vice Chancellor Ivelaw Griffith informed University security that bomb threats were made against the University online and he urged them to have students leave the Turkeyen, East Coast Demerara campus.

The Police were called to the scene and are combing the grounds of the University.

Up to news time, the situation remains active, with the Police discovering no bombs.
