An injury to Guyanese boxer Elton Dharry has forced a shift in date for his world title fight against Salmin Kassim of Tanzania, the Guyana Boxing Board of Control announced on Monday.

Originally scheduled for March 28 at the Pegasus Suites and Corporate Centre, the bout for the IBO Super Bantamweight World Title will now be held on April 25 at the same venue.

According to the Boxing Board, Dharry’s management requested an extension of three weeks from the scheduled date to return him to full fitness.

The nature and extent of the injury were not disclosed.

The Board added that despite the date change, all other arrangements for the highly anticipated card remain the same, noting that tickets will be released to the public shortly.

Before the March 28 date, the fight was intended for the weekend of February 14-15.
