Linden nurses on $400,000 bail for forging vaccination cards
Two registered nurses attached to the One Mile Health Centre in Wismar, Linden, appeared at the Linden Magistrate’s Court on Monday in relation to allegedly forging vaccination cards.
Sandrene Chapman, 33, and Anastasia Mckenzie, 27, appeared before Magistrate Wonda Fortune via Zoom and were not required to plea to the charges.
Chapman and McKenzie were both placed on $200,000 bail and are also required to report to the Mackenzie Police Station every first Monday of the month. The matter was adjourned until November 23, 2021.
Last month, Minister of Health Dr. Frank Anthony said that the Guyana Police Force was investigating about 10 cases of stolen and forged vaccination cards.
With the implementation of vaccination requirements to enter most buildings, the issue of forged and fake vaccine cards is now a worry for the government.
In August this year a 31-year-old driver of the health ministry and a 27-year-old driver attached to the West Demerara Regional Hospital were remanded to prison after they were caught stealing COVID-19 vaccination cards.
